Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Quark Apps ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Kosha mobile application and related services (the "Service").
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide and information generated through your use of the Service:
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive identifiers and basic profile information (such as your name and email address) as permitted by those providers.
- Profile and preferences: Learning language, fluency level, interests, topics, display name, and location preferences (city/country you select during setup — not continuous GPS tracking from your device).
- Learning data: Words you browse, practice results, streaks, library content, and progress associated with your account.
- Device and push tokens: If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can send push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Analytics data: We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g. screens visited, feature usage, session duration). Analytics is disabled in local development builds.
- Subscription data: If you subscribe, Apple processes payment. We receive subscription status and related identifiers through RevenueCat to unlock premium features.
- Technical logs: Our backend (Supabase) may log request metadata for security, debugging, and service operation.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Personalize word queues, interests, and learning content
- Deliver notifications you opt into
- Process and validate subscriptions
- Improve the Service through analytics and troubleshooting
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data based on:
- Contract: To provide the Service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests: Analytics, security, and product improvement (balanced against your rights)
- Consent: Where required, e.g. push notifications
- Legal obligation: Where applicable
4. Third-party services
We use trusted processors who handle data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication, database, backend functions
- Apple / Google — sign-in and (for subscriptions) App Store billing
- Google Firebase — analytics and push notifications
- RevenueCat — subscription management
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing their processing.
5. Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see Section 7). We may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, subscription records).
6. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence, including within the EU and the United States, where our infrastructure and subprocessors operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@quark-apps.com. Account deletion will be available in-app (Settings → Delete Account); until then, email us to request deletion.
You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
